“An Ordinary Grace”

femininity and nature.

made with oil paints and linseed oil on canvas. 11×10 inches.

extra notes: i really began to find a voice with this painting. femininity and nature are two subjects i find the easiest to engage with when shooting photos or painting. they feel the most effortless and beautiful. i was commissioned for a bathroom painting, so i wanted to paint a place i would like to spend an afternoon. a place that felt comforting to be while getting ready for the day. the bathroom is a place where we can experience a tonal whiplash for our days. we walk in tired, we walk out ready for our day. that energy transition can be quite traumatic, even if we don’t notice it. adding a quiet visual space felt right. its also a very personal space, so the painting should be a bit personal too, no?
