as an adult, this was my first time leaving the country. not to mention finally going to japan. despite previous experience, i think my enthusiasm to see somewhere new pushed me pretty hard to become a better photographer. i wanted to capture a new place better, i wanted the pictures to mirror the excitement i had, i wanted to be able to look back at them 10 years later and feel what i felt then, i wanted to them to be enough. for myself, these photos perfectly freeze in time a special collection of feelings. i feel like i met the requirements of the job.
i had probably spent a solid 8 months editing these. picking out each photo i liked, and each edit finding its own personality. i discovered a lot of new styles and used them to help lift my work in totality. for the most part i am quite happy with the results. they feel like me. that’s about all i can ever ask for.
